Recipe - Tarte Feuillette Aux Pommes (Apple Tarts)

1 pack (17 oz) frozen puff pastry
(2 sheets); thawed
4 Sml Golden Delicious apples;
(peeled, cored, cut or sliced up
thin)
4 tablespoon Sugar
2 tablespoon Unsalted butter
Creme Fraiche or French
Vanilla Ice Cream for
garnish; if desired
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Roll out one sheet of pastry to 1/4" to 1/8"
thick on a floured work surface. Cut out two 6" rounds. Repeat with second
sheet, forming four rounds total. Place rounds on a heavy, parchmentlined
cookie sheet. Using one apple per tart, overlap apple slices on each round
in concentric circles, forming a flowerlike design (or any design of your
choice). Sprinkle each tart with 1 Tablespoon sugar and dot with 1/2
Tablespoon butter. Bake for about 22 to 25 minutes. Remove to plates for
serving and garnish if desired. Serve while warm.
