Recipe - San Antonio Beans

2 pound Dried pinto beans
One half pound Salt meat
1 One half pound Ground beef
4 tablespoon Shortening
1 lg Onion; chopped
1 cn (no. 2) tomatoes
One fourth teaspoon Oregano
4 Cloves garlic
One fourth teaspoon Cumin seed
6 Soft chili pods or
3 teaspoon Chili powder
Soak beans overnight; cook with salt meat which has been minced . Brown
ground beef and onions in shortening.
Blend other ingredients in blender and add to meat mixture. Add the meat
mixture to the beans and simmer for one hour over low heat.
This is a working man's dish served with rice and jalapeno peppers. Very
good with cornbread.
SOAK BEANS OVERNIGHT
