Recipe - Rodales Tomato Sauce

4 Green onions, thinly slices
1 Clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon Oil
2 tablespoon Tomato paste
1 cup Tomato juice
1 cup Meat or vegetable stock
One half teaspoon Fennel seeds
One half teaspoon Oregano
One fourth teaspoon Salt
2 tablespoon Cornstarch
4 tablespoon Cold water
Saute green onions and garlic in oil for a minute or two. Add tomato paste
and blend in. Stir in tomato juice and stock. Season with herbs and salt.
Dissolve cornstarch in cold water and stir into boiling liquid, stirring
constantly. Cook until thickened.
Yield: approximately 2One half cups.
