Recipe - Raisin-Spice Cookies

Ingredients:

One half cup Shortening
4 tablespoon Stick butter, softened
1 cup Dark brown sugar
1 Egg
1/3 cup Molasses
1 One half teaspoon Finely grated fresh ginger
2 One fourth cup All purpose flour
1 teaspoon Salt
Three fourths teaspoon Ground cinnamon
One fourth teaspoon Ground cloves
1 One half cup Raisins
One fourth teaspoon Mace granulated sugar

Beat the shortening and butter in large bowl until creamy. Add the brown
sugar, egg, molasses and ginger, beating until light and fluffy. Combined
cups of the flour, the baking soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves in a small
bowl. Gradually stir into the butter mixture. Dust the raisins with the
remaining One fourth cup flour and the mace; stir into the batter and mix well.
Covet and refrigerate until the dough is firm enough to handle. Preheat the
oven to 375F. Grease cookies sheets. Roll the chilled dough into small
balls; roll each ball in granulated sugar. place about 1 One half inches apart
on the prepared cookies sheets. Bake for 10 mins. Remove the cookies to
wire racks to cool. Store in an airtight container.
