Recipe - Pickled Herring

Herring fillets
Onions, cut or sliced up
1 Bay leaf
1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
1 teaspoon Sugar
One half To Three fourths cup vinegar
1 cup Cold water
Soak herring for 3 or 4 hours in cold water. Wash in cold water and cut
into cubes. Prepare a marinade with the remaining ingredients and marinate
for 2 days. Drain and serve.
