Recipe - Pennsylvania Scrapple

One half cup Molasses
1 Egg
1 One half teaspoon Baking soda
Three fourths cup Boiling water
Three fourths cup Allpurpose flour
One half cup Packed brown sugar
2 tablespoon Butter or margarine
One fourth teaspoon EACH ground cloves, ground
nutmeg, and salt
One half teaspoon Ground cinnamon
1 9" pie crust
Whipped cream for garnish

In a bowl, mix mollases, egg, soda and water. In a second bowl, combine
flour, brown sugar, butter, and spices. Work with your fingers until even
crumbs form. Sprinkle 1/3 of the flour mixture into pie crust. Pour on 1/2
of the molasses mixture. Repeat with One half of the flour mixture and remaining
flour mixture. Top with remaining flour mixture. Bake at 450 deg F for 10
minutes. Reduce heat to 350 deg F. Bake 20 minutes more or until filling is
firm when shaken. Cool at least 30 minutes before serving. Garnish with
whipped cream and a sprinkle of brown sugar. Posted to bakeryshoppe digest
