Recipe - Parsley Dumplings

3 tablespoon Shortening
1 One half cup Allpurpose flour*
3 tablespoon Chopped fresh
Parsley or chives
2 teaspoon Baking powder
One half teaspoon Salt
Three fourths cup Milk
*if using selfrising flour omit Baking powder and salt.
Cut shortening into flour, baking powder, salt and parsley or chives with
pastry blender until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in milk. Drop
dough by spoonfuls onto hot meat or vegetables in boiling stew (do not drop
directly into liquid). Cook uncovered 10 minutes. Cover and cook 10 minutes
longer. 10 DUMPLINGS; 105 CALORIES PER DUMPLING. To Microwave: Prepare
dumplings as directed. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto hot meat or vegetables
in boiling stew in 3quart microwavable casserole only around edge (do not
drop dough in center). Cover tightly and microwave on high 5 to 7 minutes,
rotating casserole One half turn after 3 minutes, until dumplings are no longer
doughy.
