3 Egg whites
1 One fourth cup Sugar
One half teaspoon Grated lemon peel
One half teaspoon Baking powder
1 One half cup Very coarsley chopped
blanched almonds
1 cup Flour
Beat egg whites, sugar, lemon peel & baking powder till smooth. With heavy
spoon, work in nuts thoroughly, then flour. Flour your hands, then pinch
off tablespoonsized lumps and shape like small, sturdy bones. Place
slightly apart on greased baking sheet and bake at 375 or 1012 minutes or
till pale bown. Cool on wire racks & store airtight. Makes about 3 One half doz.
