Recipe - Onion Pie

One half pound Onion; thinly cut or sliced up (about 2
2 tablespoon Butter
8 Eggs
1 cup Dry white wine
2/3 cup Heavy cream
1 teaspoon Salt,
1/8 teaspoon Pepper
1/8 teaspoon Nutmeg
One half pound Grated Gruyere cheese; (abou
1 ea 9"pie crust Saute in butter till soft, remove from heat & set
aside. Combine eggs, wine, cream, salt, pepper & nutmeg. Spread 1 cup of
cheese on bottom of pastry shell, cover with onions and top with remaining
cheese. Pour cream mixture over cheese and onions. Bake 350 for 1 hour or
until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve chilled. FROM:
