Recipe - One-Egg Cake

2/3 cup Sugar
One fourth cup Shortening
One fourth teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 Egg
1 One half cup Flour
One half cup Milk
2 teaspoon Baking powder
Cream shortening and sugar. Add unbeaten egg. Add flavoring. Beat
thoroughly. Sift flour, measure, and sift with salt and baking powder. Add
alternately with milk to creamed shortening and sugar. Pour into welloiled
loaf pan. Bake in moderate oven (375 F) 35 minutes. The Household
