Recipe - No Fat Lebkuchen

One half cup Honey
One half cup Mollases
Three fourths cup Sugar
1 Egg
1 teaspoon Grated lemon peel
1 tablespoon Lemon juice
2 Three fourths cup Flour
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Cloves
1 teaspoon Allspice
1 teaspoon Nutmeg
One half teaspoon Soda
1/3 cup Citron [raisins are good
too]
1/3 cup Nuts

Just discovered that my standard Lebkuchen ("Black Forest Honey Cakes")
recipe has no shortening or oil in it. This is from the Betty Crocker
cookbook. Copyright page is missing, but I think it's 1950.
Mix honey and molasses. Add egg, lemon peel and juice. Sift & stir in
flour and spices. Chill 2 hours. Mold into flattened balls. Decorate with
blanched almonds and citron. Bake on GREASED sheet at 400 degrees, 1012
minutes.
