Recipe - Napfkuchen (Turban Cake)

One half cup Butter
1 tablespoon Lemon peel
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1 cup Sugar; divided in half
4 Eggs; separated
Three fourths cup Milk
2 cup Sifted flour
2 One fourth teaspoon Baking powder
Cream together butter, lemon peel, vanilla, One half C. sugar and egg yolks. Add
milk slowly. Beat egg whites until stiff. Add One half C. sugar. Add flour and
baking powder to creamed mixture. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Turn
batter into mold. Bake about 55 minutes at 350. For variety, add One half C.
freshly ground poppy seeds or One half C. rumsoaked raisins.
