Recipe - Mothers Filled Butter Rings (Christmas)

1 Egg
1 cup Dates; chopped
1 cup Boiling water
Three fourths cup Nuts; chopped
1 teaspoon Soda
One half teaspoon Baking powder
Three fourths cup Sugar
1 tablespoon Shortening
1 pn Salt
1 Three fourths cup Flour
1 teaspoon Vanilla

In the boiling water add egg, dates, and nuts. Mix the remaining
ingredients together and then mix with the original mixture. Bake for about
30 minutes at 325°.

NOTES : One of our Christmas puddings.
