4 To 6 tart apples
One half cup Brown sugar
One fourth teaspoon Nutmeg
One fourth teaspoon Cinnamon
One fourth teaspoon Salt
1 One half cup Flour
2 teaspoon Baking powder
One half teaspoon Salt
One half cup Sugar
1 Egg well beaten
One half cup Milk
One half cup Melted butter
Preheat oven to 350F. Grease the inside of a 1 One half quart baking dish.
Place cut or sliced up apples, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and One fourth teaspoon salt in
the dish. Bake apples uncovered until soft, about 20 minutes. While apples
are baking, sift together the flour, baking powder, and One half teaspoon salt
and sugar. Mix into this the beaten egg, milk and melted butter. Stir
gently. Spread the mixture over the apples and continue baking until the
top is brown and crusty (about 25 minutes). Serve with whipped cream. From
