Recipe - Layered Soup Mix In A Jar

One half cup Dry split peas
1/3 cup Beef bouillon granules
One fourth cup Pearl barley;
One half cup Dry lentils
One fourth cup Dried minced onion
2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
One half cup Uncooked long grain rice
One half cup Alphabet macaroni or other
small macaraoni*
ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS
1 pound Ground beef
3 qt Water
28 ounce Diced tomatoes undrained
Yield: 1 jar
*can be put in a small bag to make it easier for the recipent to get out of
jar )
In a 11/2pint jar, layer the first eight ingredients in the order listed.
Seal tightly. Yeild: 1 batch.

To prepare soup: Carefully remove macaroni from top of jar and set aside.
In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, brown beef; drain. Add the water,
tomatoes and soup mix; bring to a boil Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 45
minutes.
Add reserved macaroni; cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until
macaroni, peas, lentils and barley are tender. Yeild: 16 servings ( 4
quarts)
