Recipe - Julkage (Danish Christmas Bread)

DOUGH
1 cup Milk
1 Egg
2 tablespoon Butter
1 teaspoon Vanilla
One fourth cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Salt
One half teaspoon Cinnamon
One half teaspoon Dried lemon peel, or freshly
grated to taste
One half teaspoon Ground cardamon
3 cup Allpurpose flour
2 teaspoon Rapid or Quick yeast
ADD
One half cup Dried fruits (raisins,
cherries)
One fourth cup Chopped almonds (up to 1/2)
WASH
1 EGG beaten with:
2 tablespoon Milk OR cream

Add dried fruits/nuts to the abm pan 5 min. after kneading starts. Remove
dough from abm. Divide into 3 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long
rope and braid ropes together. Place braid on lightly greased baking pan.
Cover, let rise about 1One half hours. Brush dough with EGG WASH Bake in
preheated 350° oven 2530 min. Till golden.
