Recipe - Ilenes Chocolate-Oatmeal Revel Bars
Categories: None, Ilenes Chocolate-Oatmeal Revel Bars
1 cup Butter; softened (don't use
margerine...spoils the
image)
2 cup Brown sugar; packed
2 Eggs
2 teaspoon Vanilla
2 One half cup Flour
1 teaspoon Baking soda
3 cup Rolled oats; uncooked
12 ounce Chocolate chips (2 cups)
2 tablespoon Butter; additional
1 cn (14 oz) sweetened condensed
milk
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly grease a jelly roll pan. In large
mixer bowl, cream the 1 cup butter and brown sugar. Add eggs, one and a
time, and beat until fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Add flour and baking soda,
and mix well. Stir in (by hand) rolled oats. Spread One half to Three fourths of the
mixture into the jelly roll pan, and pat down evenly.
In small heavy saucepan, combine chocolat chips, milk, and 2 tablespoons
butter. Stir over low heat until the chocolate is melted. Pour chocolate
mixture evenly over the oat mixture in the pan. Dot with reserved oat
mixture.
Bake for 2025 minutes, or until the edges are browned and the center feels
firm. Cool in the pan, then cut into small bars.
***Note: Gosh, these are simple...just my style...and they are soooo rich.
Be sure to cut them into small bars.
Last year I sent these often to the kids at college. They were a continual
request...
For PMS symptoms....bake this recipe. Take them out of the oven and cut
into squares while still warm. Pour a huge glass of milk. Fill a plate up
with the bars, and take bars and milk into the living room. Turn the tv on
to an old Jimmy Stewart movie...any one will do. Watch movie; eat bars;
cry; wipe eyes. Repeat as often as necessary......
