Recipe - Hush Puppies3

1 cup White cornmeal
1/3 cup Sifted flour
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Baking powder
One half teaspoon Soda
1 small Onion minced
Three fourths cup Buttermilk; (about)

1. Mix cornmeal, flour, salt, baking powder and soda in a bowl.

2. Stir in onion and buttermilk. Blend thoroughly. If needed, add more
buttermilk for good consistency.

3. Drop batter by heaping teaspoonfuls into hot fat at least 1 in. deep.

4. Fry until golden, turn and brown other side.

5. Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot.
