Recipe - Homemade Hand Lotion
Categories: Misc, Household, Homemade Hand Lotion
1 One fourth cup Stearic acid (powder)
12 ounce Glycerin
One half ounce Strong ammonia (28% or
stronger) (1 Tbsp.)
One half teaspoon Borax powder (99% pure)
One half teaspoon Paraffin wax; grated
16 ounce Warm water; (2 c.)
Perfume and color to suit**
**I use 2 teaspoons of perfumed body lotion and 1 to 2 drops of red food
color. Put stearic acid, glycerin and wax in a "crock" on low heat, until
all is well melted. Then add the One half ounce of ammonia and stir fast with a
wooden spoon (this will look a little milky). Have Borax dissolved in warm
water; add, stir and immediately start beating (on low speed). Take off
stove and beat until it looks like whipped cream. When cool, add perfume
and color. Note: Use no metal (plastic measures or glass are fine).
