Recipe - Homemade Creme De Menthe

2 ounce Fresh mint leaves
1 Fifth
4 cup Sugar
2 cup Water
10 dr Peppermint oil
2 dr Green food coloring (2 to
3 )
Vodka
1. Crush mint leaves in a mortar and pestle or place them between a
tablespoon and a teaspoon and macerate. Place crushed leaves in a
sterilized glass jar and pour vodka over them. Cover and let sit for 10
days. 2. Stain vodka through cheesecloth or a coffee filter and discard
mint. 3. Make a syrup of the sugar and water by bringing the mixture to a
boil, boiling for 30 minutes, and then letting it cool. Add syrup to the
mintflavored vodka, add peppermint and coloring and stir. 4. If liqueur is
not clear, you may want to filter it a second time. You may also want to
omit the green food coloring. Liqueur will keep for a year on the pantry
shelf.
