Ingredients:

One half pound Dates; cut into 1/2" thick
cubes
Three fourths cup Water
1 tablespoon Honey
1 cup Toasted walnut pieces
Three fourths cup Brown sugar
1 cup Unsalted butter
2 One half cup Rolled oats
2 cup Flour
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
2 tablespoon Milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a 1quart saucepan, combine dates, the
water, and honey. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 7
minutes. Cool for 10 minutes. Stir in walnuts. Reserve. In a large mixing
bowl, crumble together brown sugar, butter, rolled oats, flour, and baking
soda. In a small bowl, mix vanilla and milk, then stir into dry ingredients
to form a crumbly mixture. Pat two thirds of the crumbly mixture onto the
bottom of an 8inchsquare baking pan. Spread date mixture onto crumbs.
Sprinkle remaining crumbly mixture on top. Bake until lightly browned (35
to 40 minutes).
