Recipe - Grandma Macs Sugar Cookies

2 cup Granulated sugar
1 cup Shortening
3 Whole eggs
1 cup Sour cream
5 cup Flour
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Baking powder
One half teaspoon Nutmeg
Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and mix thoroughly. In a small bowl
combine flour, soda, salt, baking powder and nutmeg. Alternately add dry
ingredients and milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. (Dough will
be stiff). Chill overnight. Roll out One half inch thick and cut with large
cookie cutter. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake 1012 minutes in moderate (350)
oven.
NOTES : Instead of dairy sour cream we always used 1 cup of milk to which 1
tablespoon of vinegar had been added.
