Recipe - Grandma Hartings Upside Down Cake

1 One fourth cup Flour
1 Three fourths teaspoon Baking powder
Three fourths teaspoon Salt
Three fourths cup Sugar
1/3 cup Shortening
1 Egg, unbeaten
One half cup Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla
One fourth cup Brown sugar
2 tablespoon Butter, melted
One fourth cup Each of chopped apple and
peach
Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Now add the
shortening, egg, milk, and vanilla. Beat for 3 minutes with mixer.
Cover bottom of a well greased 8x8x2inch square pan with One fourth cup brown
sugar and 2 tbsp melted butter.
Arrange the fruit over the bottom of pan and pour batter over fruit. Bake
at 350F for 3540 minutes. Serve warm or cool.
