Ingredients:

1 Cube soft butter (stick?)
8 tablespoon Shortening
1 One half cup Sugar

What follows is Grandma DelCarlo's recipe for Biscotti: Blend butter,
shortening and sugar until smooth and creamy. Add eggs to cream, one at a
time; add vanilla and anise. Mix in flour with baking powder and salt; add
almonds. Form dough into 2 flat loaves on greased baking sheet (you maybe
able to make 3 flat loaves dimensions 3 inches wide x 12 inches long by
0.50.75 inches thick). Bake in 350 degree oven for 1520 minutes. The
bottom should begin to brown and the dough should be firm. Remove from
oven and cut each loaf into diagonal strips (may 1520 per loaf); return to
pan placing each cookie on its side. Bake 510 minutes. You want to toast
the cut edges. Toast both sides for crispy cookies and one side for softer
ones.
