Recipe - Gooey Shoo-Fly Pie

CRUMB MIX
2 cup Flour
Three fourths cup Brown sugar
1/3 cup Lard or butter
One half teaspoon Nutmeg; optional
1 teaspoon Cinnamon; optional
SYRUP
1 cup Molasses
One half cup Brown sugar
2 Eggs
1 cup Hot water
1 teaspoon Baking soda; dissolved in
Hot water
Make crumbs by mixing together all crumb ingredients.
To make syrup, combine the syrup ingredients together.
Pour One half of the syrup into a pie crust, then add One half of the crumbs. Add the
remaining syrup and the rest of the crumbs. Bake the pie for 10 minutes at
400 oF, then reduce the heat to 350 oF for 50 minutes. This recipe makes
enough for 2 pies.
