Recipe - Fruit And Date-Nut Bread

Ingredients:

3 cup Allpurpose flour
1 cup Sugar
1 tablespoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Salt
Three fourths cup Cold butter or margarine;
cut into 12 pieces
1 cup Pecans; chopped
1 cup Dates; chopped
One half cup Raisins
2 Eggs
1 One fourth cup Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla

1. Heat oven to 350F. Grease two 8 One half x 4One half x 2 5/8inch loaf pans.*

2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in large bowl. With pastry
blender or 2 knives used scissor fashion, cut in butter until mixture
resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in pecans, dates and raisins.

3. Combine eggs, milk and vanilla in small bowl. Stir into flour mixture
until just moistened. Spoon batter into pans, dividing equally.

4. Bake loaves in 350F oven for 1 hour or until wooden pick inserted in
centers comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 minutes. Remove to
racks; cool completely. *For muffins: Grease twelve 4 One half x 2 1/2inch
muffinpan cups. Bake at 350F for 20 minutes or until wooden pick inserted
in centers comes out clean.
