Recipe - Fresh Fruit Compote

One half cup Water
One half cup Sugar
2 tablespoon Fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon Vanilla
4 cup Sliced seasonal fruit,
including strawberries,
blackberries, plums, and/or
nectarines
In a small saucepan combine water, sugar and lemon juice and bring to a
boil, stirring occasionally, and boil until sugar is dissolved. Cool syrup
to room temperature and stir in vanilla. In a bowl combine fruit and syrup
and chill until cold. Compote may be made 4 hours ahead and chilled,
covered.
Yield: about 4 cups
