Recipe - Fig Cake

2 cup Self rising flour
1 One half cup Sugar
1 cup Cooking oil
3 Eggs
1 cup Buttermilk
1 cup Fig preserves, drained,
stemmed, chopped
1 cup Chopped nuts, optional
1 tablespoon Vanilla
SAUCE (OPTIONAL
1 cup Sugar
1 Stick margarine
1 tablespoon Corn syrup
1 tablespoon Vanilla
One half cup Buttermilk
One half teaspoon Soda
Sift flour and sugar, add oil and eggs. Add slowly, the buttermilk,
preserves. and nuts, blending well. Add vanilla. Pour into greased and
floured tube pan.
Bake at 3250 for 45 minutes or longer. probably longer test with straw.
Sauce:: optional: Mix in deep pot and boil for 3 minutes. Spread on warm
