Recipe - Faux Kahlua

1 One half cup Firmly packed dark brown
sugar
1 cup Granulated sugar
2 cup Water
One half cup Instant coffee
3 cup Vodka
1 One half tablespoon Vanilla
1 teaspoon Glycerine (optional
thickener)
small Handful coffee beans
(optional)
Makes 2One half pints.
Combine sugars and water in nonreactive saucepan. Bring to boil and simmer
5 minutes, stirring constantly. Whisk in instant coffee and let cool to
room temperature. (Do not refrigerate this or it may thin out.)
Add remaining ingredients and stir until smooth. Funnel into bottle(s) and
let stand in dark place for at least 2 weeks. Remove coffee beans if
desired (I don't).
NOTE: For "faux Tia Maria," substitute dark rum for the vodka. For coffee
brandy, substitute brandy.
