4 Egg yolks
One fourth cup Heavy cream
1/3 cup Granulated sugar
1 2/3 cup Sifted flour
One fourth teaspoon Salt
One fourth (up to)
One half teaspoon Cardamom (to suit taste)

The recipe you are looking for is called Fattigmand. My grandmother makes
this too. This is not her recipe but is one I found in her church's
cookbook.

Beat egg yolks until light. Add whipped cream and sugar and beat well. Add
flour, salt, and cardemom. Chill dough several hours. Roll small amount
of dough at a time to a little less than 1/8 inch thickness (thinner if you
like). Cut in 1 x 3 inch strips with pastry wheel, cutting ends
diagonally. Make a lengthwise slit in the center of each strip, and pull
one end through. (Special cutting rollers are available in Scandinavian
delis.) Fry in hot, deep fat (350 degrees) until lightly browned, turning
once. Drain on paper towels. When cold, sprinkle with confectioner's
sugar.
