Recipe - Curried Cabbage With Peas

1 One fourth pound Green cabbage; shredded
1 One fourth cup Frozen green peas
Oil for stirfrying (1 tbsp.
or less)
2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
2 Bay leaves
One fourth teaspoon Turmeric
1 tablespoon Ground Cayenne pepper
1 Green chili; minced
(Jalapenos work fine)
Three fourths teaspoon Salt
Three fourths teaspoon Sugar
One fourth teaspoon Garam masala (spice mixture;
available at most Indian
groceries)

Heat the oil in a wide pot. Add cumin & bay leaves. When bay leaves start
to color, add cabbage. Stir for 30 seconds. Add turmeric and cayenne, stir
and cover. Cook on low for 5 minutes until cabbage is barely tender. Add
chili, peas, salt, and sugar. Uncover and add garam masala. Remove bay
leaves before serving. 4 servings.
