Recipe - Cranberry Cake With Golden Sauce

2 cup Allpurpose flour*
1 One fourth cup Sugar
1 cup Milk
2 tablespoon Shortening
2 teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Vanilla
One half teaspoon Salt
1 Egg
2 cup Cranberries
GOLDEN SAUCE
One half cup Sugar
One half cup Halfandhalf
One half cup Margarine or butter
One half teaspoon Vanilla

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix flour, sugar, milk, shortening, baking
powder, vanila, salt and egg; beat 30 seconds. Stir in cranberries. Pour
into greased and floured square pan, 9x9x2 inches.
Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 40 to 45
minutes. Serve warm with Golden Sauce. 9 servings.
GOLDEN SAUCE: Heat One half cup sugar, One half cup halfandhalf, One half cup margarine
or butter and One half teaspoon vanilla in 1quart saucepan, stirring
