Recipe - Corn-Meal Turnovers

Ingredients:

1 One half cup Flour
Three fourths cup Cornmeal
2 tablespoon Melted shortening
1 Egg, well beaten
One half teaspoon Salt
One fourth teaspoon Baking soda
2 teaspoon Baking powder
1 tablespoon Sugar
One half cup Milk

Sift flour, measure, and sift with sugar, salt, baking soda, and baking
powder. Add cornmeal. combine with egg, shortening, and milk. Turn onto
lightly floured board. Pat into sheet One half inch thick. Cut as for cookies.
Brush tops with melted butter, and fold half over. Place on welloiled
baking sheet. Bake in hot oven (450ø F) 10 minutes. 8 servings. Helen
