Recipe - Christmas Star Cookies

1 cup Shortening
1 cup Plus 2 tblsp sugar
3 Eggs
1 One half teaspoon Each lemon and vanila
extract
3 cup Sifted flour
1/8 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Cream of tartar
1 teaspoon Baking soda

Here's a nice Chrismasy recipe from Favorite Recipes of America.

Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating until smooth and creamy. Add
eggs and flavorings; beat thoroughly. Sift dry ingredients together. Add to
creamed mixture. Set oven at 400 degrees. Roll dough 1/8inch thick on
wellfloured board. Cut into star shape with cookie cutter. Place on
ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 6 to 8 minutes. Yield: 4 dozen cookies. (My
note: Looks really pretty with different colored icings too.)
