Recipe - Cherry Nut Cake - My Favorite!

2 One fourth cup Flour
1 1/3 cup Sugar
3 teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Salt
One half cup Vegetable shortening
One fourth cup Maraschino cherry juice
16 Maraschino cherries
One half cup Milk
4 lg Egg whites
One half cup Chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350°F. Sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and
salt. Add the vegetable shortening, cherry juice, cherries and the milk and
beat for 2 minutes. Add 1/22/3 cups(4 large) unbeaten egg whites and beat
2 minutes more. Then fold inOne half c. of chopped nuts. Pour into two greased
and floured round cake layer pans and bake for 3035 minutes. Frost with
pink Seven Minute Frosting (it's recipe is in this file).
NOTES : MUST use 7Minute Frosting on this cake and color it pink.
