Recipe - Butter Cake With Browned Butter Frosting

CAKE
Three fourths cup Sugar
Three fourths cup Land O Lakes butter;
softened
4 Egg yolks
2 teaspoon Vanilla
2 cup Allpurpose flour
2 teaspoon Baking powder
1/8 teaspoon Salt
Three fourths cup Halfandhalf
FROSTING
One fourth cup Land O Lakes butter
3 cup Powdered sugar
2 teaspoon Vanilla
3 (up to)
4 tablespoon Milk
Heat oven to 350ø. In large mixer bowl combine sugar and Three fourths cup butter.
Beat at medium speed until creamy (12 minutes). Add egg yolks and vanilla.
Continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed (1 minute). Reduce
speed to low. Beat, gradually adding flour, baking powder and salt
alternately with halfandhalf and scraping bowl often, until well mixed
(12 minutes). Batter will be thick. Divide batter between 2 greased and
floured 8inch round cake pans. Bake for 2025 minutes or until toothpick
inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes, remove from pan. Cool
completely.
Meanwhile, in 1quart saucepan, melt butter over mediumlow heat until
lightly browned (45 minutes). In small mixer bowl combine all frosting
ingredients except milk. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often and
gradually adding enough milk for desired spreading consistency. Spread
frosting between cooled cake layers; frost entire cake. Yields 16 servings.
TIP: Cake can be baked in a 13x9inch baking pan; bake for 2530 minutes.
