Recipe - Butter-Nut Balls (M Stewart)

Ingredients:

2 Sticks unsalted butter; at
room temperature, (1 cup)
One half cup Sugar
2 Eggs; separated
1 teaspoon Grated lemon rind
2 One half cup Allpurpose flour
2 tablespoon Milk
1 cup Walnuts; finechopped
12 Candied cherries; halved (to
15)

MAKES 24 TO 36 COOKIES

In a mixing bowl, cream the butter; add the sugar gradually, beating well.
Add the egg yolks and rind and beat until fluffy. Stir in half the flour.
Add the milk and beat well, then add the remaining flour. Knead slightly to
blend.
