Recipe - Breakfast Puffs

1/3 cup Shortening
One half cup Sugar
1 Egg
1 One half cup Allpurpose flour*
1 One half teaspoon Baking powder
One half teaspoon Salt
One fourth teaspoon Ground nutmeg
One half cup Milk
One half cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
One half cup Margarine or butter; melted
Heat oven to 350F. Grease 15 muffin cups, 2 One half x 1One fourth inches. Mix
shortening, One half cup sugar and the egg. Stir in flour, baking powder, salt
and nutmeg alternately with milk. Fill muffin cups about twothirds full.
Bake until golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes. Mix One half cup sugar and the
cinnamon. Immediately after baking, roll puffs in melted margarine, then in
sugarcinnamon mixture.
*If using selfrising flour, omit baking powder and salt.
