From: The Frugal Gourmet by Jeff Smith
Zaartar, a blend of herbs, is very popular with those in the Middle East.
It is made up of thyme, sesame seeds or chickpeas, and sumac bark. You can
buy this mixture in any Middle Easter grocery or delicatessen. You can use
it for many dishes.
Cut each loaf of bread into 8 wedges. Separate the wedges so that each loaf
offers 16 wedges.
Mix the remaining ingredients together to form a paste. Brush the coarse
side of each of the wedges with a bit of the paste. Place on a cookie sheet
and broil until lightly browned on top. Watch these carefully.
Makes 32 pieces.
