Recipe - Bran Candy

2 cup Brown sugar
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Milk
1/8 teaspoon Baking soda
1 tablespoon Butter or butter substitute
One fourth teaspoon Salt
1 cup Bran
Boil all ingredients except bran to soft ball stage (234 238 F). Cool to
room temperature. Add bran. If desired, One half cup raisins, dates, or nuts
may be added. Beat until stiff enough to knead. Turn onto board dusted with
powdered sugar. Knead until smooth. Shape into a roll and slice. Margaret
