Recipe - Black Walnut Cake With Creamy Icing

2/3 cup Shortening
2 Eggs
2 One half cup Flour
2 teaspoon Soda
1 teaspoon Black walnut flavoring
2 tablespoon Water
2 1/3 cup Confectioners sugar
1 Egg
1 teaspoon Vanilla
2 cup Sugar
2 cup Buttermilk
One half teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 cup Black walnuts; chopped
4 tablespoon Sugar
One fourth teaspoon Salt
1/3 cup Shortening
Cream 2/3 cup shortening and 2 cup sugar. Add 2 eggs; one at a time.; beating
well after each one. Add half the buttermilk;. flour and soda. Beat well.
Add the other half plus the salt; vanilla and black walnut flavoring. Beat.
Stir in chopped nuts. =14
Pour into greased; 9x13 inch pan and bake at 250 degrees for 35 to 40
minutes or until done. When cool ice with Creamy Icing=14
Creamy Icing: Boil water and 4 T sugar together in a pan for 2 to 3
minutes. Let cool. Mix confectioners sugar; salt and egg. Pour sugarwater
syrup in and beat smooth. Add shortening and vanilla LAST (this is
important). Beat until creamy. More confectioners sugar may be needed. Ice
cake.
