2 cup Allpurpose flour
2/3 cup Wheat germ
2 teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
One fourth teaspoon Baking soda
One fourth teaspoon Salt
One fourth teaspoon Ground nutmeg
1/3 cup Butter or margarine; cold
1 lg Tart apples; peeled and chop
ped
One half cup Milk
One fourth cup Honey
Topping
2 teaspoon Wheat germ
2 teaspoon Sugar
One fourth teaspoon Ground cinnamon
Recipe by: Country Woman March/April 1997 In a large bowl, combine
flour,wheat germ, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, salt and nutmeg.
Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. combine the
apple, milk and honey; add to dry ingredients just until moistened. Turn
onto a floured surfac, knead gently 56 times. Gently patt dough into a
9in. circle, One half in. thick. Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over
dough. Cut into eight wedges and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at
400 degrees for 1518 minutes.
